Slice Y
Cut the world at a height to look inside buildings, caves and the Nether. Plan underground bases and rooms below the roof.
For App · browser and desktop · Updated
You'll cut the world at a block height, so everything above it disappears and you can see inside. Free to plan alone · No account
Turn it on
In the top bar, tick the box next to Slice Y. It starts at the height of the last block your mouse pointed at.
Pick the height
Drag the slider, or type a Y level in the box next to it. It goes from -64 to 320, like the world.
Everything above that height is hidden. Caves, mines and the inside of buildings show from above.
Plan down there
Draw as usual. Tip: the bar at the bottom shows x, y and z of the block under the mouse, so you know how deep you are.
Turn it off
Untick the box and the whole world is back.
Ideas
- Underground base: slice at your base's floor and draw its rooms as areas.
- Mine tunnels: draw paths along a cave level.
- Look into a build: placed schematics are cut at the same height, so you see each layer.
The Nether
The Nether has a bedrock roof. When you switch to it with the dimension menu, Slice Y turns on at 100 so you see below the roof. Change the height as you like.
Combine it
Top-down in the top bar looks straight down. Together with Slice Y it works like a floor plan.
