Mod troubleshooting
The MC Planner mod doesn't load, shows only lines or a box, asks for a plan, or won't sign in? Find what you see, and what to do about it.
For Mod 0.2.0 · Minecraft 26.2 · Fabric · Updated
Find what you see below. Most problems are a setting, a missing file or a plan.
The mod doesn't load
Minecraft stops at the start with a message about missing or incompatible mods:
- Minecraft 26.2? This version of the mod is for 26.2 only. Older versions are coming.
- Fabric API? It has to be in the same
modsfolder, version 0.160 or newer. - Fabric Loader 0.19 or newer?
The game starts, but J does nothing and there's no MC Planner group in the key settings:
- The right profile? Both
.jarfiles belong in themodsfolder of the profile you start, and that profile needs Fabric. - J taken? Another mod may use J. Look in Options → Controls → Key Binds for keys shown in red, and give Open MC Planner another key.
/mcplanneropens the menu too.
Step by step: Install the mod.
Only lines, no fills
You see outlines, but no coloured or textured ground:
- An area without a block set only gets its outline at first. Switch on Display… → Area fill, or set a block for it in the app.
- A path without a block set: check that Display… → Path tiles is on.
- Fill in Display… set to 10 %? Raise it to 25 % or more.
- Shader packs are supported: fills show with Iris too. Still only lines with a shader pack? Make sure you have the newest version of the mod, then try with the shader pack switched off. If that changes it, write to us with the name of the shader pack.
Only a box
Buildings show as see-through boxes, with a line at every storey: that's how a building looks. A building from a schematic shows its blocks instead, when the mod finds the file. Only a box there? See the next part.
A schematic shows only as a box
Press J and click the building. The screen says why:
| It says | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Not on this computer: …" (the label says "schematic file missing") | Get the same file from the source link and put it in Downloads or the schematics folder, then Look again. Step by step. |
| "Found — switch on Display → Block textures to see its blocks" | Switch on Display… → Block textures. |
| "… is an old MCEdit/Schematica schematic …" | Old .schematic files (from before Minecraft 1.13) only show in the app for now. |
| "… is too big for the game view …" | Builds larger than 16 million blocks of space only show in the app. |
| "Looking for the file…" for a long time | Big folders take a moment. Files over 60 MB aren't looked at. |
The file has to be the same file that was placed in the app. A changed or re-saved version is a different file to the mod, and a zipped one isn't found: unpack it first. Builds with more than 600 000 blocks also show as a box.
"Plan needed"
The mod works with an active MC Planner plan — yours, or the one of the friend whose world you're in.
Included with Cloud, Team and Lifetime · Try 7 days free · Friends in your worlds use it freeYou see Plan files need an MC Planner plan when you open a plan file and your account has no active plan. (Your own shared worlds pause when your plan ends: see This world is paused.)
What to do:
Start a plan or the trial
Press Start 7 days free: the app opens in your browser, on the plans. The trial is free for 7 days, needs no card and has nothing to cancel; each account gets it once. Or press See plans for Cloud, Team and Lifetime.
Back in the game
Press I have a plan → Check again. Not signed in yet? Press Sign in first: Sign in with a code.
In a friend's world you don't need a plan: theirs covers you. If their world is paused, see the next part.
Without internet, the mod keeps working with the last saved copy for up to 72 hours after it last checked your plan, and never after your plan ends.
"This world is paused"
"MC Planner: this world is paused (the owner's plan ended)". The world's owner has no active plan any more, so the mod draws nothing in it: no overlay, no HUD.
- Your world: the mod says Renew in the app. Pick a plan there (See plans), and the world comes back on its own (if your plan keeps fewer worlds live than you have, the app asks you to Choose which stay live). Nothing was lost.
- A friend's world: only the owner can renew. Until then, everyone can still open it read-only in the app and export the plan.
Sign-in problems
| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The code ran out | Press Try again for a new code, and press Connect on the website before the countdown ends. |
| The browser didn't open | Point at Open browser: its tooltip shows the address. Open it in your browser yourself. |
| "Sign-in didn't work." or another message | Press Try again. Check that this computer can reach auth.lab43.dev and app.mc-planner.com (a firewall or school network may block them). |
| "Signed out · This device was disconnected." | Someone disconnected this computer on auth.lab43.dev/account, or the sign-in ran out. Press J → Sign in again. |
| Signed in, but your worlds aren't there | Check the name at the top of the menu: it has to be the same account you use in the app. See the next part. |
More about signing in: Sign in with a code.
My shared world isn't listed
- Signed in with the same account as in the app? The menu shows the account at the top.
- Is the world shared? Only shared worlds are listed, not worlds you plan alone. Share it in the app with Collaborate, or use a plan file.
- Press Refresh on Choose a plan. A message in red says what went wrong.
- Paused worlds are listed as paused and show nothing: This world is paused.
My plan file isn't listed
- The mod looks in
Documents\MC Plannerand in the profile'smcplanner/plansfolder, and in the folders directly inside them. - Saved in the browser? It's in your Downloads: drop it onto Choose a plan.
- Is your Documents folder in OneDrive? Then drop the file onto Choose a plan too.
- Press Refresh.
Nothing shows here
The menu says what's going on:
- "Nothing planned in this dimension (… objects elsewhere)": the plan is in another dimension.
- "Everything here is hidden by the filters.": switch filters back on in the menu. Done is hidden at first.
- The overlay is off: press N. The HUD then says "hidden".
- Far away: the plan is drawn up to 160 blocks at first. Display… → Draw up to goes up to 512.
"saved copy" or "offline" in the HUD
- saved copy: the mod shows the last copy it saved while it loads the newest one. It goes away by itself.
- offline: the plan can't be loaded right now: no internet, or the server didn't answer. You still see the last saved copy, if there is one. The menu (J) shows why under the plan (⚠). The mod keeps trying; Refresh tries at once.
I can't change anything
Status buttons and + Marker here are greyed out: their tooltip says why. See Can't change anything?.
Still stuck?
Minecraft writes what the mod does to logs/latest.log in your profile folder, in the lines with "MC Planner". Send us that file with a short note of what you did.
