Troubleshooting
A world that won't open, no textures, the mod showing only lines or a box, a schematic as a box, "Plan needed", or sign-in trouble. What you see, and what to do.

A world won't open
| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| "… isn't a world folder (there's no level.dat inside)." | You dropped the saves folder or another folder. Pick the world's own folder inside saves: the one with level.dat in it. |
| "No level.dat found — is this a Minecraft world (zip of the world folder)?" | The .zip doesn't hold a world. Zip the world's own folder: Make a .zip. |
| "The world has no region files yet." | The world was never saved with land in it. Play it in Minecraft once, then try again. |
| "Load the Minecraft game jar first (step 1)." | Textures come first: Bring your blocks. |
| "That world is no longer cached — please choose the file again." | The browser cleared its copy. Drop the world again. |
| "That's a plan file (.mcplan)." | Open your world first, then load the plan with File ▾ → Load plan file…. |
| "That's a schematic." | Open your world first, then drop it on the map (or press 7). |
- Bedrock worlds don't open: MC Planner reads Minecraft: Java Edition worlds only.
- Very old worlds: MC Planner reads worlds from 1.18 and newer. Older ones may not open, or may look wrong.
- Where's my world? Where are my worlds?
No textures, or the wrong ones
| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| "This file doesn't look like a Minecraft client jar or resource pack (no block states found)." | That's not the game file. Take the .jar from your launcher's versions folder (Prism: minecraft-…-client.jar): Find the game file. |
| "Close the world first to change the game textures." | Close the world (✕ at the top right), then change next to the textures. |
| "Map colours only" at the bottom | You joined a shared world without block textures: the map shows the host's colours, no 3D blocks. Leave the world and open the invite link again to get the textures from Mojang (or load your own jar). |
| Modded blocks without their texture | Add the mod's .jar before the game jar: Resource packs and textures from mods. |
| Some newer blocks without their texture | Use the game file of the version the world was played in, or a newer one. |
| The demo island has no block textures | That's how it is: it always shows map colours. |
The mod shows only lines or a box
- Only outlines on areas: an area without a block set gets only its outline at first. Switch on Display… → Area fill (J → Display…), or set a block for it in the app.
- Faint fills: raise Display… → Fill.
- With a shader pack: fills show with Iris too. Make sure you have the newest version of the mod.
- Buildings are boxes: that's how buildings look: see-through boxes with storey lines.
Details: Only lines, no fills.
A schematic shows only as a box
The mod shows a schematic's blocks only when the same file is on your computer, because the plan never carries the file. Get it from the source link, put it in your Downloads, and press Look again on the building's screen (J → the building). Also check that Display… → Block textures is on.
In the app it works the same way: friends see a box with the link to the original until they import the same file.
Details: A schematic shows only as a box.
"Plan needed" in the mod
The mod works with an active MC Planner plan — yours, or the one of the friend whose world you're in. Plan files need your own plan.
Included with Cloud, Team and Lifetime · Try 7 days free · Friends in your worlds use it freePress Start 7 days free (the 7-day trial: no card, nothing to cancel, once per account) or See plans, then I have a plan → Check again. A friend's world that's paused comes back when its owner renews. Details: Plan needed.
Sign-in problems
In the app (email code):
- "We sent a code to …": the email can take a minute. Check your spam folder too.
- No email? Send a new code (after the countdown), or Use a different email.
- "Please enter the code from the email.": type the code from the newest email.
- You only need an account to plan together. Planning on your own never needs one.
In the mod (code on auth.lab43.dev):
- The code ran out: press Try again and press Connect on the website before the countdown ends.
- The browser didn't open: point at Open browser to see the address, and open it yourself.
- "This device was disconnected.": sign in again with J → Sign in.
- Your worlds aren't listed: check that the mod shows the same account as the app.
Details: Sign-in problems in the mod.
