Read the overlay
How the MC Planner mod draws your plan in the world. Paths, areas, buildings and markers, their labels and block textures, and what the colours of a status mean.
For Mod 0.2.0 · Minecraft 26.2 · Fabric · Updated
Once a plan is picked, the mod draws it over your world, on the real terrain. N shows and hides it.
What you see
| In the plan | In the game |
|---|---|
| Path | A see-through tile on every block to pave, with an outline along its edges and a thin centre line. All on the terrain. |
| Area | An outline along the block edges that follows hills, with posts (3 blocks high) at the corners. An area with a block set is filled with it; a plain-colour area gets a fill with Display… → Area fill. |
| Building | A see-through box from its base to its height: the footprint, the top, the corners, a line at every storey, walls and a roof. A building from a schematic shows its blocks instead: Schematic ghost blocks. |
| Marker | A block outline with a beam (12 blocks high) and a diamond on top. |
Everything follows the terrain as it is in your game. When you build, the overlay catches up within a few seconds. Far-away chunks that aren't loaded yet are filled in once they load. In the Nether, the mod looks down from your head height, so the ceiling doesn't get in the way.
Block textures
An object with a block set in the app (a gravel path, a pond of water, a wheat field, stone brick walls) shows that block's texture on its tiles, fill, walls and roof. The textures come from your own game, so resource packs and modded blocks work too.
- Tiles and roofs show the block's top; walls show its side.
- Crops show fully grown, with farmland under them. Water and lava show still.
- Grass, leaves and water get the colour of the biome they're in.
- A block from a mod you don't have shows in the object's plain colour instead.
Without a block set, an object shows in its colour. Display… → Block textures switches textures off: Display settings.
Labels
Every object gets a label: its name, and under it the kind, the status and how far it is, like "Area · In progress · 42 m". Labels are drawn for the 40 nearest objects within Labels up to (96 blocks at first). A building whose schematic file isn't on your computer says "schematic file missing".
- Labels: On/Off in the menu (J) switches them.
- Display… → Labels through walls keeps them visible behind blocks.
Statuses
| Status | How it looks |
|---|---|
| Idea | Paler and fainter |
| Planned | The object's colour |
| In progress | Pulses |
| Done | Dim green, and hidden unless the Done filter is on |
Filters
The menu (J) has two rows of filters. Click one to switch it: ✔ shows, ✘ hides.
- Paths, Areas, Buildings, Markers
- Ideas, Planned, In progress, Done (Done is off at first)
Below the filters, the menu lists the objects in this dimension, nearest first, with an arrow and the distance. Click one for its details: Find your way.
