FAQ
Short answers about MC Planner and the MC Planner mod. What's free, which versions work, what's uploaded, and what the mod needs.
For App (browser and desktop) · Mod 0.2.0 · Updated
Is MC Planner free?
Planning alone is free, with every feature and no account. Planning together needs a plan for the host: Cloud, Team or Lifetime. Friends join free.
Is the mod free?
The download is free, but it only works with an active MC Planner plan: Cloud, Team or Lifetime, or the 7-day trial. If a friend invites you to their shared world, their plan covers you. Plan files (.mcplan) need your own plan.
Do my friends need a plan?
No. Friends join your shared world free, with a free account. Your plan covers them, in the app and in the mod. Only for plan files in the mod do they need their own plan.
Which Minecraft versions does it support?
Minecraft: Java Edition. It's built for 26.2 and also reads worlds from 1.18 to 1.21, including modded worlds and modded dimensions. Bedrock Edition isn't supported.
Which versions does the mod run on?
Minecraft: Java Edition 26.2, with Fabric Loader and Fabric API. Older versions are coming. There's no version for Forge, NeoForge or Bedrock.
Do I need Minecraft installed?
Yes. MC Planner reads block textures and models from your own Java Edition game file. Nothing from Mojang is bundled with MC Planner.
Invited to a friend's world on a computer without Minecraft? The invite offers to get the block textures straight from Mojang, in your browser (you confirm you own Minecraft: Java Edition). Or join with map colours only. See Friends without Minecraft on their computer.
Will it change my world?
No. MC Planner only reads your world. Your plans are stored separately.
Does the mod change my world?
No. The mod only draws the plan over your world, on your screen. It never places or breaks blocks, and other players don't see it.
Does the mod work on servers and in my modpack?
Yes. It runs on your computer only and works on any server: the server needs nothing. Your profile needs Minecraft 26.2 with Fabric Loader and Fabric API. Sodium and Iris shader packs work. See Shaders and performance.
Does it work on my phone?
MC Planner needs a desktop or laptop browser. It uses 3D graphics, keyboard shortcuts and your game files.
Is my world uploaded?
Only if you share it. On your own, everything stays in your browser. When you share, the world files and a colour map are uploaded to our server so friends can open it with a link. Your game's textures are never uploaded.
What does the mod send?
Your sign-in, the mod and Minecraft version, and the changes you make in shared worlds (statuses and markers). It reads plan files and schematic files on your computer, and never uploads them. No analytics. All of it: Privacy: what the mod sends and reads.
What do my friends need?
The invite link, a free account and a desktop browser. They see your world with their own textures, or in map colours, and plan with you live.
Can I use schematics?
Yes: .litematic, .schem, .schematic and .nbt. Imported files stay in your browser and are never uploaded. Friends see a box with the link to the original until they import the same file.
Why don't I see a schematic's blocks in the game?
The mod shows a schematic's blocks only when the same file is on your computer. Builds belong to their creators, so the plan never carries the file. Get it from the source link and put it in your Downloads. See Schematic ghost blocks.
What happens when a plan ends?
The owner's shared worlds pause. In the app, everyone can still open them read-only and export the plan. In the mod, paused worlds are listed but nothing is drawn until the owner renews. Plan files in the mod need your own active plan. Your Minecraft world isn't touched, and nothing is taken from anyone's own copy of the plan.
Is there a desktop app?
It's almost ready, for Windows, macOS and Linux. It will find your worlds and game files by itself. Until then, MC Planner runs in your browser.
Is MC Planner made by Mojang or Microsoft?
No. MC Planner is an independent tool by Lab43. Not an official Minecraft product. Not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft.
