What goes online, and what never does
What MC Planner uploads when you share a world, what stays on your computer, and what happens to it when you stop sharing. Planning alone uploads nothing.
For App · browser and desktop · Updated
Sharing a world puts a few things on MC Planner's server so friends can plan with you. Here's the full list.
Planning alone
Nothing goes online. Your plans stay in this browser (or the desktop app), and you don't need an account. A browser that never signed in doesn't even talk to the sign-in service.
If MC Planner crashes, it offers to send a crash report to Lab43. It goes only if you press Send to Lab43, and it never has your plan or any names in it: Send a crash report.
When you share a world
| What | When |
|---|---|
The world's level.dat, region files and a colour map | When the owner presses Share world or Update shared world |
| The plan: roads, areas, buildings, markers, statuses, notes, Home | Live, while people are connected |
| Pinboard images | When someone adds one during a live session |
| Your account name and colour, who's in the world, the roles | While you're a member |
| Where your mouse points on the map | Live, while you're connected (Live cursors) |
The colour map lets friends without Minecraft see the map in colour. The region files let everyone see the real terrain.
Your plan stays yours too
Everyone keeps a copy of the plan in their own browser. If the shared copy goes away, nobody loses their plan.
What never goes online
- Mojang's game files. Your game
.jarand the block textures are read on your computer only. Friends get theirs from their own Minecraft, or straight from Mojang: Textures for friends. - Your resource packs and mod jars.
- Schematic files. The plan keeps only their fingerprint, size, material list and source link: Why schematic files are never shared.
Who can see it
Only the members of the world: people who joined with an invite link. They need to sign in to see it. Someone you removed can't open it any more.
When it's deleted
Stop sharing… → Delete the shared copy deletes the world files, the members and the invite links on the server. Everyone keeps the plan in their own browser. Leave a world or remove someone.
A world that pauses because of the owner's plan isn't deleted: Paused worlds.
